What is Fear Play?
A retreat built around the one thing
most people avoid
Fear is universal. Every human experiences it — and in the right relationship, it is one of the most useful forces we have. The problem is that most of us have never consciously looked at how fear operates in our lives. Left unchecked, it quietly redirects us: away from intimacy, away from risk, away from the version of ourselves we most want to become.
Fear Play is a five-day immersive retreat in the mountains of Cyprus designed to change that. Through a blend of high-intensity physical challenges, reflective somatic practices, and genuine human connection, you will begin to see fear clearly — and discover that once you can see it, you can play with it.
The work is experiential. You won't just learn about fear intellectually — you will meet it directly, in your body, in nature, and with a group of people doing exactly the same thing. That shared experience is where the real transformation happens.
What's involved
Two kinds of work.
One complete experience.
Cliff jumping
Step off the edge and meet the moment before thought catches up with you.
Rock climbing
Trust your body on vertical ground. Learn what focus under pressure actually feels like.
High-lining
A thin line between two points of rock. Everything else falls away.
Theatre improv
The social body in real time. Fear of judgment, spontaneity, and connection — explored through play.
Contact improv & voice work
Move, be moved, and use sound as a portal back into your body.
Meditation, breathwork & yoga
Come back into stillness. Let the experiences settle into something lasting.
The four pillars
The architecture of
the retreat
Exposure
Direct, graded contact with fear in controlled environments. You choose your edge.
Regulation
Expand your window of tolerance. Learn to stay in contact with discomfort without being overwhelmed.
Space
Rest. Daydream. Journal. Your nervous system needs unstructured time to integrate what you've lived.
Connection
The people around you matter enormously. Shared experience rewrites old stories faster than solitary insight.
The programme
Five days.
One arc.
Day 1 · Wednesday, 18 Nov
Arrival & Initiation
Settle in, meet the group. An opening ceremony and fear workshop to set the tone for everything that follows.
Day 2 · Thursday, 19 Nov
The Cliffs
Cliff jumping at the coast. An afternoon with improv games to carry the energy into the interpersonal realm.
Day 3 · Friday, 20 Nov
The Wall
A day of rock climbing. Contact improv in the evening — learning to give and receive weight, literally and metaphorically.
Day 4 · Saturday, 21 Nov
The Line
High-lining. The most refined version of the week's work — balance, presence, and complete attention. Voice activation in the evening.
Day 5 · Sunday, 22 Nov
Closing Ceremony
Integration. Reflection. An intentional closing to carry what's been opened back into real life.

Where
Kakopetria,
Troodos Mountains
Nestled in the pine-forested heights of the Troodos range, the village of Kakopetria sits at over 600 metres above sea level. The air is cooler here. The pace is different. Stone paths lead between old houses and beneath old trees, and the mountain silence — real silence — does something to you if you let it.
The retreat is fully residential. Camping on-site, communal meals cooked and shared together, fire circles under the mountain sky. The space between the workshops — the mornings before anyone is fully awake, the slow hours after dinner — is as much a part of the retreat as the programme itself. Community is not a feature here. It is the container in which everything else happens.
Who is this for?
You don't need to be fearless.
You just need to be curious.
Open level
No experience required — in movement, meditation, or anything else. Basic physical mobility is all you need.
Experienced movers welcome
If you have an established movement practice, bring it. The work meets you where you are.
Ready for something real
If you've been curious about your own relationship with fear and want more than a podcast can offer, this is for you.
Open to people
Community is central. You should want to be around others doing the same work — not just tolerate it.

Common questions
FAQs
Do I need prior experience in movement or meditation?
No. This retreat is genuinely open level. All you need is basic physical mobility and a willingness to engage. The activities are graded, meaning you always choose your own edge — nothing is forced.
Is camping the only accommodation option?
Yes — the communal living aspect is a central part of the retreat. Sleeping on-site together, sharing meals and waking up in the same space, is integral to the container we're creating. Please bring good-quality camping gear and warm layers for the mountain nights.
What's included in the price?
All sessions, workshops, and activities throughout the programme; communal meals during the retreat; accommodation on-site; fire circles and evening programming. Transport to the retreat location is not included.
Is this physically demanding?
Some activities are physically engaging — cliff jumping, rock climbing, and high-lining involve real challenge. But the programme is designed so that every participant works at their own level. You are never required to do anything beyond your capacity, and yin sessions provide genuine recovery time.
What if I have a specific phobia or anxiety?
The retreat is not clinical therapy. If you are working with significant anxiety or trauma, please get in touch before registering so we can have a conversation about whether this is the right fit for you.
How many people will be there?
Places are deliberately limited to maintain the quality of the group experience. Reach out for current availability.

"I left with a lot to think about, a lot to be proud of, some really great people now in my life, and a better understanding of how fear works and how to navigate it."
"Switching from laughing uncontrollably with strangers to being hugged by friends during honest deep discussions — this workshop was a delight from beginning to end."
